This is Sylvia, along with her co-workers she offers freedom to women in the districts and suburbs stretching across Los Angeles.
A love of cruising the city at night in their restored autos led this group of sassy street mechanics to find a carbon offset purpose within their community. Her passengers range from minimum-wage nightshift workers, to a ride home for women out at an evening in Cuban dance halls and Spanish cinemas.
Sylvia is a prominent voice in the ‘No gracias señor’ movement which calls for specific state laws against the commonplace harassment of women in male dominated workplaces.
Her ‘querida’, known simply as Green Goddess, is a V8 Selene Fastback manufactured by Wade of Ohio in 1968 — one of only five known running examples from the long defunct gas-guzzling maker.
